Today is…
TODAY IS: March 8th, 2019
TODAY I WILL REMEMBER TO FEED: birds, cats, myself, time.
TODAY I WILL READ: haiku, fiction
TODAY I WILL WRITE: haiku, fiction
TODAY’S STORY IS: about a very special tattoo, possibly one about a field also
TODAY, I WILL TRY TO REMEMBER: that all creatures are hurled into existence and struggling alongside each other in the same perishing place; total non-existence is the destination for everything; compassion is the highest and only achievement.
TODAY I WILL ALSO: think about many dead people and animals and think about my thinking about them and how it does and does not change.
TODAY IS ALSO: nudging very close to spring. I will think about that and feel the planet tilting in space like a very fertile whale.
TODAY I AM: here.
TODAY IS NOT LIKE ANY OTHER DAY BECAUSE: today is the outfit yesterday changes into to go and see tomorrow, who then says, “though I know I never met you before, your clothes are giving me this weird sense of deja vu.”
TODAY I WILL ALSO WORK ON: time-distance problems, housework
TODAY IS A GIFT BECAUSE: we should remember that human language is still so young on the planet, and never cease thinking of the shivering bodies in the darkness which carried us to this place, how they ran madly, no relief from excruciating pain and staked by hunger and nescience, do you think about them when you walk down the aisles of a hangar-sized grocery megastore, further and further back, every one of them your beloved, and some are covered in fur and not even able to cry tears but holding the feeling inside their bodies, nonetheless; and not to start from this place each day is the one heresy, and why most of those things you hate are on the television again and again each day, and the echo of bullets.
TODAY I SING: the church of relics, animal bones under our feet
TODAY, THINK ABOUT: how small children will draw tears as diamonds.
