The Disappearance of Jason Jolkowski (Theory)

On June 13th of this year, Omaha resident Jason Jolkowski will have been missing twenty long years. That 19-year-old man who vanished in 2001, a few days before summer and about two weeks before his twentieth birthday, is now either a 39-year-old man, on the cusp of middle age, or he is beyond summers and birthdays altogether.

I won’t rehash the details of his disappearance since you can read a fantastically concise summary of that written by author Jenn Baxter.

I think it’s safe to say that virtually everyone who reads about this tragic disappearance finds it baffling. It seems largely irrational that a young man should go missing in broad daylight during a short walk to a familiar location through what was generally conceded to be eight or so safe blocks.

I just wanted to do a quick post giving my take on the theory that seems to strike me as the most reasonable explanation for the disappearance of this young man.

First, let me list the things which I don’t think happened, many of which are theories widely prevalent on the internet. I don’t think Jason was the victim of a hit and run. I don’t think he was abducted by a stranger, that is, don’t believe he got into a stranger’s vehicle either willingly or unwillingly. I don’t believe he was lured inside a house by a stranger who then committed a crime of opportunity. I don’t believe he got lost and wandered into a violent neighborhood where something bad happened.
