I have poetry in the forthcoming issue of the Honest Ulsterman.

This is an online continuation of an Irish print mag that started back in the 1960s.

It was started by Frank Ormsby, a Northern Irish author and poet.

You can read poems by Ormsby on the Poetry Foundation’s website.

I like the poet’s succinctness and plain-dealing in poems like “My Father’s Funeral.” That feels like the honest grain of wood we expect of Irish poetry. But I also appreciate the more abstract take of an Ormsby poem like “Moving In.” There’s magic in a line like this: “Street-lamp and elm utter leaves on walls as in no room ever.” I’ll have to seek out a book by him.
