Pete Buttigieg Is Being Ridiculously Pilloried By Fake Ass People
I don’t have any idea who will get my vote in either the Democratic primary or the general election. It’s way too early to know that. But I do respect Pete Buttigieg’s character and celebrate this historic moment where an openly gay American is running for president of the United States.
The current smear campaign running the news cycles is that Buttigieg showed some sort of “insensitivity” by having his photograph taken at the Holocaust Memorial by his husband, Chasten Buttigieg. Is that it? Or is he being pilloried for sharing the photograph on Instagram? Except, he didn’t share it. His partner did. We have no way of knowing if his husband “cleared” the photo with the campaign before sharing it. Quite possibly he did not. But this is all beside the point. Because what is there in this photograph to offend, really?
I see nothing.
I see a man who showed the respect to visit the Holocaust Memorial. I see him posing in a dignified manner in what appears a private moment shared between spouses. There is no grandstanding, no inappropriate affect. How many of the people criticizing Buttigieg so glibly would even take the time to visit the Memorial? I bet the vast majority of them would opt for some other more touristy destination. It’s also been demonstrated that many of the individuals criticizing the photo are supporters of other political candidates. And I’d wager just about anything that a lot of them are homophobes jumping on a criticism bandwagon…
