frozen creek
she braided her ice
in the night

all around me
things become words
too fast

Vermeer’s stillness
on a screen —
jet shaken windows

abandoned house
stay cat rubs
all four corners

crows raid trash —
hunger is
not anarchy

less weeds
more spam
nature’s balance

outside a sickroom
whispers reflect
in white porcelain

trying to count
sparrowsparsparrspowsparsparrows
at the feeder

bird feeder in snow
swings, one after another
spar sparse sparrows

night ocean
even the fish
smell of stars

snow falling
the furthest trees
disappear first

snow squall
a deer’s eyes sandpapered
by light

obsessive distance
a machine repeats a sound
almost a question

invisible plane
in snow sky following
the sound

window sill jar
cold cherry flavor
to winter woods

through a snow squall
the steel mill’s machines converse —
robotic blips

sparrows in flight
folding the wings
at the right moment

sparrowsparsparrspowsparsparrows

cold stutters —
spar sparse
sparrows
