I make visual art most days.
This is a digital elaboration of what began as a very simple line drawing.
It was only after it was done that I realized it might be a little nod to M.C. Escher, whose work I consider a perennial delight. I love his idea of eye-traps. And, of course, his idea of multiple, competing perspectives within a single composition.

My love always loved fireflies.
So when she was told her days were few,
what harm would come if I tinkered
in her dying form?
I did it to please her.
Her genes code now for luciferase
and she glows to herself
in her bed, the soft warm
slow flash calling me
into the dark room
to lie beside her
and dream endless summer.
